FROZEN IN TIME

FROZEN IN TIME is a project I began during the winter of 2014. That winter brought us record breaking temperatures, and record ice coverage on Lake Michigan, so I set out to document this once in a lifetime winter. FROZEN IN TIME is an evolving project, so I’ll continue to add images, sharing the beauty of winter.

Below are main stats from the winter of 2014.

%

Record ice coverage on Lake Michigan

17 INCHES – Heaviest January snowfall in Flint – Jan. 4-5

-40 Wind chills caused by the polar vortex that moved south to just north of Lake Superior

%

Number of days below zero in Marquette, MI

Number of fingers with frostbite

Number of times I care to see winter like this again

FROZEN IN TIME
THE BOOK

WHAT STARTED AS A SELF IMPOSED PROJECT TO DEAL WITH THE COLD OF MICHIGAN’S WINTER, HAS RESULTED IN A FINE ART COFFEE TABLE BOOK.

FROZEN IN TIME is a photo essay featuring Lake Michigan’s shoreline during the winter. I began this project during the winter of 2013 and continued working on it through the winter of 2014-2015.

These were severe seasons which broke several longstanding records, while providing many opportunities to capture beautiful images of the icy landscape.
