NATURE ON THE MOVE
A PHOTO ESSAY OF THE MOVING DUNES OF SILVER LAKEDUNES ON THE MOVE
Silver Lake State Park is a public recreation area covering 2,936 acres bordering Lake Michigan and Silver Lake near Mears in Oceana County, Michigan. The state park is composed of mature forest land and over 2,000 acres of sand dunes.
According to this article these dunes move approximately 2 – 6 feet per year, swallowing anything in its path.
What drew me to this area is the battle between human and nature. The inevitability of nature having its way, no matter how we try to tame her, nature will always have her way.
